Dear Friends and Supporters,
This July marks a deeply significant moment — the 30th anniversary of the Bosnian Genocide. To honour the memory of those who were lost, and in solidarity with survivors, I will be undertaking a physical and symbolic journey of remembrance.
From 19–21 July 2025, I will walk and jog 100 miles from Bamburgh Castle in Northumberland to Edinburgh Castle — a personal challenge to be completed within 48 hours.
As I move through these historic landscapes, I will carry in my thoughts and prayers the thousands of men and boys who were forced to flee the forests around Srebrenica in July 1995, seeking refuge from genocide. I will also remember all those who suffered across Bosnia — in Prijedor, Foča, Višegrad, Stolac, Mostar, Sarajevo, and so many other towns and villages marked by unimaginable violence. Their suffering, endurance, and . courage continue to inspire us all.
At the same time, I walk with a heavy heart for those suffering in our world today - in Gaza, Yemen, Sudan, and elsewhere- where civilians continue to bear the brunt of brutal conflict and injustice. Their plight reminds us why remembrance must lead to action, compassion, and responsibility.
This fundraising effort will support the Bosnian Genocide Educational Trust’s new 2026 Educational Trip Fund — designed to give young people, educators, and those unfamiliar with the region the chance to visit Bosnia-Herzegovina and engage directly with its history and communities.
As a trustee of the Bosnian Genocide Educational Trust, I am proud to contribute to this vital work.
Your generous support will help ensure that the lessons of the genocide are never forgotten — and that we continue to build a future rooted in understanding, solidarity, and peace.
